I have often wondered about the phenomenon of the good cop. So I'll hazard a guess that maybe they are cats, that would have been firemen, saving lives and fighting fires.

And so maybe they became cops, because the fire department has a lot more job applicants and a hell of a lot less hires.

Maybe, they were mostly interested in getting free at a fairly early age to do their own thing; and both a fireman and a policeman in Memphis at 25 years of service retires.

So these are the cats who will give a harmless soul a break; and make their quotas arresting muggers and burglars and assholes stealing your tires.
